How to Plan Your Spring Break in Jamaica

By Lorena Roberts on February 17, 2018

Spring Break is supposed to be a time of fun in the sun with all of your friends. Some popular Spring Break destinations are Florida, Mexico, California, and Jamaica. Because it’s much tougher to plan a trip that’s not in the continental United States, here are some tips for planning a Spring Break in Jamaica.

1. Consider traveling with an agency.

I had no idea that agencies will actually plan your spring break trip for you! If you’re feeling the least bit overwhelmed by planning a Spring Break trip all the way to Jamaica, look into the following sites:

  • Studentcity.com
  • STAtravel.com
  • StudentUniverse.com
  • efultimatebreak.com
Traveling with an agency will not only make it less-stressful on your part, but will know all the best transportation available, best sites to see, and best activities to do while you’re there.

2. Choose your travel-mates wisely.

We all know that Spring Break is a time for fun and goofing off. But, there’s always a chance that things will go too far. Before you place yourself in a situation that’s going to be hard to remove from your permanent record, think about who you want to travel with.

You’ll also probably want to pick people who are on top of their game, right? The last thing you want to spend your Spring Break doing is babysitting your classmates. Going to Jamaica for Spring Break is going to be a total blast, so don’t ruin that opportunity by taking people with you who are only going to rain on your parade.

Who you take with you can easily ruin your trip, or make it the best spring break you’ve ever been on. When you’re somewhere as beautiful as Jamaica, you definitely want it to be the best. I’d highly recommend picking your mates wisely.

3. Seek out specific destinations/activities.

You’ll want to have a plan of what you’re going to do when you make it to Jamaica for Spring Break. Depending on preference, some people travel to exotic places to drink themselves through the week, while others travel to take part in the culture of different places. Whether your motivation for your Spring Break in Jamaica does or doesn’t fall into one of these categories, you’ll appreciate knowing what to do once you get there. A great website that should point you in the right direction is www.visitjamaica.com

4. Know all of your transportation ahead of time.

One of the easiest ways to get stressed out on vacation is by not knowing how you’re going to get from point A to point B. It’s stressful to feel like it’s going to be expensive, or to be unable to find transportation at all. If you’re planning on using Uber the entire time, you’ll want to make sure there’s Uber service in all the areas you’re visiting.

5. Destinations you should definitely visit:

Montego Bay: This beautiful, popular tourist destination will make your visit to Jamaica on Spring Break “official.” You haven’t truly seen what this country has to offer until you’ve walked along these shores.

Dolphin Cove: You’ll literally be able to swim with dolphins if you visit this attraction in Jamaica. Your Spring Break in Jamaica will be easy to remember once you’ve had this one of a kind experience.

Bob Marley Museum: Another popular tourist attraction in Jamaica during Spring Break is the Bob Marley museum. You’ll be able to feel like you’re actually a part of his life with a walk through his former residence in Kingston, Jamaica.

Blue Mountains: Here’s something for those of you who are interested in nature and the outdoors! The Blue Mountains are the longest range in Jamaica. You’ll be able to walk to the country’s highest point — over 2000 meters high!

6. If you’re a James Bond fan…

You can visit the beach that appears in the James Bond movie “Dr. No,” if you visit the northern coast of Jamaica. How much more complete can a true fan feel than how you’ll feel standing in the exact place where a James Bond movie was once filmed?

The “James Bond Beach” is about 10 miles from Ocho Rios. It wouldn’t be too much trouble to make a stop by for a few hours. You’ll surely be glad you did!

If you’re planning to spend your spring break in Jamaica, I hope you’ll plan to see the most amazing sites and scenery while you’re there. I hope you’ll look into traveling with an agency, so you won’t feel as stressed. I hope you’ll choose your travel buddies wisely, and I hope you’ll leave feeling completely fulfilled.

On the other hand, if you spend your spring break in Jamaica drinking on the same beach with your friends every day, so be it. It’s your spring break — and Jamaica is the perfect destination.
